Vegan BLT Sandwich with Tofu Bacon
A vegan take on a classic BLT sandwich, with an easy tofu bacon recipe.

Sandwich Ingredients
- 2 slices of bread
- Tomatoes sliced
- Lettuce
- Avocado
- Vegan mayo
- Salt and pepper optional
Tofu Bacon
- 1 block super firm tofu
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- ½ tsp liquid smoke or just smoked paprika
- ½ tsp maple syrup
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp smoked paprika
- ¼ tsp black pepper
For the tofu bacon, slice the super firm tofu into thinner pieces and set aside. Combine all the marinade ingredients into a container, and place the tofu slices in the mixture. Let the tofu marinate for about 5 minutes or until ready to cook.
On a nonstick skillet, fry the marinated tofu slices on medium-high heat until both sides are golden brown and crispy. Lightly grease the pan if needed.
Time to assemble the sandwich! Spread vegan mayo on two slices of bread, and stack the tomato slices, avocado, lettuce, and tofu bacon according to your liking. Enjoy!
Can't find super firm tofu? Then make sure to cook get all the excess water out of your tofu by using a tofu press.
Make it healthy! Skip the vegan mayo and use oil-free hummus for more protein and less fat.
