Easy Hot Fudge Vegan Sundae
The perfect vegan hot fudge sundae with just a few simple ingredients. Banana ice cream, aka "nice cream," will be your new favorite healthy dessert.
Total Time 10 minutes mins
Nice Cream
- 6 frozen bananas
- 1-3 tbsp almond milk as needed
For the ice cream, put the frozen bananas and milk in a food processor and pulse until the bananas have completely blended into a soft serve texture. Only add 1 tbsp of milk at a time if you think the mixture needs more liquid, but the bananas should be able process down completely with minimal milk. Just be patient!
Scoop out the banana ice cream into a bowl with a lid and keep in the freezer for 1 hour or until ready to eat.
For the hot fudge, add the cacao powder into a small saucepan, and over medium heat, whisk in the water, maple syrup, and salt. Keep whisking until the sauce has thickened slightly, then transfer to a jar to let cool for a few minutes.
Assemble your sundaes! Scoop out the nice cream from the freezer and top off with spoonfuls of the hot fudge. Add chopped nuts or whatever toppings you like.
No food processor? Food processors are perfect for achieving ice cream-like texture since they require such little liquid. A high-speed blender will also work, just be sure to use as little liquid as possible.
Cacao or Cocoa? If you think I misspelled cocoa, I didn’t! Cacao powder is the raw form of cocoa, and it’s less sweet. You can totally use cocoa powder if that’s what you have, but be sure to reduce the maple syrup to 1 tbsp.
