pumpkin spice latte with oat milk

Pumpkin Spice Oat Latte

This pumpkin spice oat latte recipe is better than any other pumpkin spice latte (aka PSL), in that it’s actually made from real pumpkin and it’s totally vegan.

We all know pumpkin spice lattes are a fall staple, so when they finally hit Starbucks, you know autumn is just around the corner. But did you know that even when you order your PSL with nondairy milk at Starbucks, there’s still dairy in the pumpkin spice syrup?! (At the same time, pumpkin isn’t even in the syrup…but that’s another issue).

Thankfully it’s super easy to make your own PSL at home with just a few fall-friendly ingredients! This pumpkin spice oat latte recipe brings all the fall feels and will make you never want to splurge on coffee shop coffee again.

Because, let’s be honest, paying almost $1 more for nondairy milk is pretty ridiculous.

How to Make a Pumpkin Spice Oat Latte

First step is to make coffee or espresso by your own preferred method. I recommend making it strong so the coffee flavor still comes through the sweetness of the pumpkin spice oat milk.

Next, combine 1 cup of oat milk, 1 tbsp pumpkin puree, ¼ tsp pumpkin spice, ⅛ tsp cinnamon, and 2 tsp of maple syrup in a blender until thoroughly mixed. This will make sure that the pumpkin spice is completely blended in the oat milk so that your latte doesn’t come out gritty.

Heat the oat milk and pumpkin spice mix on the stove and bring to a simmer, whisking frequently.

Lastly, pour your coffee and the pumpkin spice oat milk in a mug and enjoy! Top off with coconut whip and extra cinnamon if desired.

For this recipe, I used Coco-Whip from So Delicious to top off the pumpkin spice latte, and let me tell you, it’s heavenly. Check the frozen aisle at your nearest grocery store or Whole Foods for these vegan whipped creams that are just as light and fluffy as the dairy versions

Notes

For serious coffee lovers, having your own milk frother and steamer is a game-changer. This one not only heats up your milk, it also froths and foams any nondairy milk for the creamiest lattes! Get yours here
No milk frother? No problem! If you don't want to add another appliance to your countertop, just use your trusty blender! I used my Nutribullet to foam up my milk into thick and creamy foam, and it worked like a charm! Just be careful if you are blending anything hot. Get yours here
