Easy Hot Fudge Vegan Sundae
It doesn’t need to be summertime to have ice cream on the mind.
Even though there are so many great vegan ice cream options at the grocery store these days, I wanted to show you how easy it is to make your own ice cream and hot fudge at home.
This Hot Fudge Vegan Sundae is ridiculously simple to make and – hello, look at the ingredients! – actually kind of healthy?!
With just a few frozen bananas and a food processor or high-speed blender, you have the perfect ice cream. If youโre not a fan of the banana taste, you can experiment with adding vanilla extract or cacao powder, but I wanted to keep this recipe as simple as possible.
Plus I find that with the hot fudge, the banana taste isnโt strong at all.
Speaking of the hot fudge – this recipe is the easiest of them all! Just 4 ingredients and a total of 3 minutes on the stove, and you have a vegan chocolate sauce.
Skipping the cowโs milk and even eggs in some ice creams is not only better for your health but better for all the dairy cows and hens that are put under constant reproductive stress in our factory farms day after day.
And for what? So people can have a scoop of โrealโ ice cream?
Not worth it, in my opinion, especially when there are options like these!
I just hope you take from this recipe that itโs not hard to create insanely satisfying sundaes at home with simple, plant-based ingredients.
Enjoy your sundae!
Easy Hot Fudge Vegan Sundae
Ingredients
Nice Cream
- 6 frozen bananas
- 1-3 tbsp almond milk as needed
Hot Fudge
- ยผ cup cacao powder
- ยฝ cup water
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- For the ice cream, put the frozen bananas and milk in a food processor and pulse until the bananas have completely blended into a soft serve texture. Only add 1 tbsp of milk at a time if you think the mixture needs more liquid, but the bananas should be able process down completely with minimal milk. Just be patient!
- Scoop out the banana ice cream into a bowl with a lid and keep in the freezer for 1 hour or until ready to eat.
- For the hot fudge, add the cacao powder into a small saucepan, and over medium heat, whisk in the water, maple syrup, and salt. Keep whisking until the sauce has thickened slightly, then transfer to a jar to let cool for a few minutes.
- ย Assemble your sundaes! Scoop out the nice cream from the freezer and top off with spoonfuls of the hot fudge. Add chopped nuts or whatever toppings you like.
